Scope of this statement

This statement concerns the public website https://www.faunaguide.com in Spanish, English, French, Italian, German and Portuguese, published by Merito Media LLC. The legal notice identifies the operator.

The interactive sample was mainly Spanish: home, Animals, search for “petirrojo”, European robin profile, “Luz artificial y vuelo nocturno” article, Sounds, Animals to scale, contact, newsletter invitation, navigation and analytics preferences. This statement is structurally tested in six languages; that does not evaluate every page or interaction in every language. Admads, other websites, downloadable documents and all historical content have not received a complete evaluation. Not evaluated does not mean legally exempt.

Reference and current status

WCAG 2.2 criteria and W3C WAI preliminary checks informed our review of structure, keyboard, focus, control names and narrow-screen layout. We do not have a complete evaluation establishing a conformance level.

Manual checks, code and accessibility-tree inspection and automated tests document specific aspects. They are not an external audit, certification or testing with disabled people. We claim no overall conformance and do not equate this review with all legal obligations.

Verified measures

The following were checked in the sample and states reviewed:

  • One main heading and identifiable sections on sampled pages; declared page language and a language switch.
  • A skip-to-content link with a focusable target; sampled navigation operated by keyboard and Escape.
  • Mobile navigation returns focus to its opener on closing; the newsletter invitation has an identified title, close control and fields.
  • Contact fields have associated labels, required-field and email validation, field-linked errors and preserved details after failure.
  • This statement can be read in narrow views without mandatory wide tables; light and dark themes are available. This does not establish every site contrast.
  • Optional analytics preferences have recognisable accept and reject buttons and can be reopened from the footer.

Known barriers and alternatives

These limitations remain open. They help you choose another route; they are not a list of resolved issues.

Photographs in the robin profile

Difficulty
Several images in the Spanish profile share the short text “Fotografía documental: Petirrojo europeo”, without distinguishing all visual details.
Available alternative
Read the profile’s description and characteristics; ask Contact about the missing detail.
Status
Identified; alternative text in this sample needs improvement.

Sounds recordings

Difficulty
Written context distinguishes song and call but does not describe the full audible development of the recordings.
Available alternative
Read the context and related profile; request a further description of a particular recording.
Status
Identified; a complete textual alternative for both recordings has not been verified.

Visual experiences

Difficulty
Size and relationship representations are mainly visual. Animals to scale includes written profiles and measurements, but complete scene equivalence and all thirteen experiences have not been evaluated. Interactive content is in Spanish.
Available alternative
Use written data and related editorial content; request a textual explanation of a particular comparison.
Status
Incomplete evaluation; equivalent access to all representations or languages is not guaranteed.

When the contact form is itself a barrier

Difficulty
The published electronic channel for reporting difficulties is the contact form; another electronic alternative has not been confirmed.
Available alternative
The form requires no account or newsletter and displays validation errors. If you still cannot use it, no alternative electronic reporting channel is published.
Status
Known limitation; an alternative channel and specific response time remain to be defined.

Content, media and external services

Articles and profiles provide written information; some photographs have short alternative text. Sounds recordings have written context, species, location and credits and native browser controls. A complete equivalent description of every sound, or reviewed captions and transcripts for all linked audiovisual material, has not been established.

The embedded Google Maps on Contact has a title; the address is also written and a link opens the map separately. Company details can be read without using the map. Interaction inside it, external destinations, videos and downloadable documents have not been fully evaluated. Third-party provision does not remove applicable site obligations. If a format prevents access, tell us which content and alternative you need through the form.

Environments and checking method

Observable checks used the review environment’s integrated desktop browser on Windows, keyboard, structural inspection and narrow views of 320 and 390 pixels. A commercial browser version was not recorded. Narrow views are not physical phone tests or a full browser-zoom evaluation.

Checks covered opening and closing navigation, Escape and focus return, the welcome dialog, empty-field validation and contact error and confirmation states. Test submissions used an isolated database and in-memory mail, not real delivery. Template and behaviour regression tests were added. We did not test with NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, switch devices or disabled people, or measure contrast throughout all content and states.

Reporting a difficulty

Use the contact form and write “Accessibility” in your message. No newsletter subscription is required. Include any of the following you can provide:

  • The affected URL or title and what you were trying to do.
  • What happened and which alternative content or response would help.
  • Device, browser or assistive technology, only if known and relevant.
  • Screenshots, a diagnosis and health information are not required to report a barrier.
  • Contact form

Handling requests and alternatives

The channel goes to FaunaGuide’s editors. The website confirmation reports the technical sending result, not that the issue has been reviewed or resolved. On failure, the form preserves details for correction or another attempt.

We may need clarification about the page or action. Alternatives will be considered according to the content and available means; immediate conversion to every format is not promised. No specific accessibility response time is published. Individual assistance does not replace fixing barriers or applicable rights and obligations.

Corrections made and outstanding work

This review added a focus target to the main content so the skip link does more than scroll the page. It also corrected focus return to “Configure analytics” when saving reopened preferences. Those changes are verified separately from publishing this statement.

The limitations described remain awaiting improvement or evaluation, without agreed resolution dates. Publishing this page does not mean all content is fixed or a complete remediation timetable has been approved.

Preparation, review and rights

Prepared and reviewed on 21 October 2026 through a limited technical self-assessment. Version and checking dates are shown separately so later updates can be distinguished.

We claim no seals, certifications, external reviews or public-sector administrative procedure. Reporting an issue here does not restrict applicable rights or complaint routes to competent bodies.
