Identity and purpose

These terms cover access to and use of FaunaGuide at https://www.faunaguide.com and its editorial features. Nature and scope of the publication

We publish profiles of animals, plants, fungi and microorganisms, explanatory stories, news, habitats and visual experiences to help readers understand and observe nature. Versions are available in Spanish, English, French, Italian, German and Portuguese. Each piece defines its geographical scope; its language does not determine that scope.

Read each piece in light of its format, date, sources and context. Documentary research does not establish a field visit or personal testing of everything described. Knowledge, taxonomy and distribution data can change. Our methodology explains automated assistance with research, writing and translation and editorial checks; it does not promise individual human review of every publication.

Nature observation and safety

Our content is educational and informational, not individual veterinary, medical, toxicological or conservation advice. A profile, photograph, recording or comparison cannot guarantee safe identification or edibility. Do not use the site to decide on risky consumption, treatment or handling. For emergencies, contact the appropriate services.

Mentioning a location or species grants no permission to enter land, capture, collect or feed organisms or alter habitats. Check local restrictions and permits, avoid disturbance and protect sensitive locations.

Access and voluntary choices

Reading open content is free and requires no reader account or subscription. We currently offer no paid services for readers on this site. You need a compatible device and connection; any connection charges depend on your provider.

Browsing is not consent to marketing email, notifications, optional cookies or a purchase. Features needing consent have separate mechanisms. Administration access is for authorised staff, not a public reader account.

Appropriate use and service protection

Use the site lawfully and respect others. Do not enter restricted areas without authorisation, introduce malicious code, disrupt service, impersonate others, send spam or threats through forms, bypass access controls or extract personal data without a lawful basis. Do not reuse content in breach of rights or licences. Anti-abuse measures must be proportionate and respect legitimate uses and applicable rights.

Rights, licences and reuse

Content may include our work, contributions and third-party materials. Rights belong to their respective holders; we do not presume exclusive rights over facts, data, public-domain resources or all AI-generated material. The site grants no blanket open licence.

Reproduction, distribution, adaptation or communication of protected material needs permission, an appropriate licence or an applicable legal exception. Follow each file’s terms, including attribution and share-alike requirements where relevant. A source credit does not replace necessary permission. Conceptual or AI illustrations are not documentary photographs or identification evidence. Consult the media policy or ask us about unclear rights.

Linking to FaunaGuide

You may share public links in accordance with the law. Do not impersonate us, attribute statements we have not made or imply a nonexistent endorsement, sponsorship or partnership. Linking does not authorise copying an entire piece, claiming our marks or displaying content in an interface that misleads readers about its origin.

Sources, maps and external services

References and links provide further information; they do not by themselves imply a commercial relationship or approval of everything at the destination. Google Maps and external resources, when displayed, depend on other providers and may send them technical data on loading. Their terms and policies differ: check them before supplying data or purchasing.

Report unlawful or rights-infringing links with the affected page and reasons. External services do not exclude responsibility for our own actions.

Corrections and submissions through forms

Use the contact and correction channels to report errors, outdated information or possible rights violations. Give the URL, explain the issue and provide references where possible, without unnecessary personal documents. Review follows our correction policy and any specific legal rectification or removal procedure.

Submitting does not publish your message automatically or guarantee acceptance or a change. These forms are not a public comment forum. You keep your rights in contributions; sending material for assessment is not a universal assignment or permission to publish it for another purpose.

Tools and visual experiences

Search, profile comparison, saved readings and interactive experiences help explore content and explain relationships, scales and processes. They depend on available records, the browser and simplified representations; they are not complete inventories, diagnoses or scientifically validated simulations for every decision. Theme and saved readings stay in your browser and may be lost when cleared or when changing devices.

Funding and commercial relationships

FaunaGuide is funded through group resources and advertising, affiliate arrangements or sponsorships. Sponsored content and relevant commercial relationships must be recognisably identified; potential affiliate commissions must be disclosed in the relevant context. These terms do not replace disclosures within the content.

An external commercial link is subject to the identified provider’s offer and terms. Check final prices, availability and guarantees there. We do not guarantee that commission has no effect on price or that a recommendation suits everyone. About us explains our funding.

Optional newsletters and notifications

The newsletter is free and voluntary. Requests remain pending until you confirm the email link; deliveries follow language, edition and preferences. Emails other than subscription confirmation requests contain an unsubscribe link to a branded confirmation page. Unsubscribing cannot be reversed without a new confirmation.

Browser notifications are separate from email, require permission and can be disabled through preferences or the browser. Frequency and availability may vary; these services do not guarantee notice of every publication. Subscribing or requesting a correction does not authorise other uses of your data.

Availability and operation

Maintenance, updates, connectivity or technical incidents may interrupt the site. Presentation and features depend on device and browser. We will take measures appropriate to the incident and our obligations. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or a complete absence of errors; this does not reduce specific commitments or legally required guarantees.

Responsibility and mandatory rights

Each party is responsible for its actions under applicable law. Explanations of informational scope, technical limits or third parties do not exclude liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Nothing removes non-waivable rights, prevents complaints or requires surrendering applicable consumer or user protections.

Privacy and cookies

The privacy policy explains data used for browsing, contact, corrections, newsletters and notifications, including rights and contact channels. The cookie policy covers storage and similar technologies, including optional analytics controls. These terms do not replace those policies or turn reading them into consent to processing requiring a separate choice.

Changes and the published version

The date on this page identifies the published version. Updates may reflect legal, editorial or functional changes and apply prospectively. Changes affecting an existing contractual relationship must respect applicable information, acceptance and other rights. Editing this page does not authorise charges or retroactive changes to contracted services.

Applicable law and disputes

Merito Media LLC is established in the United States and serves readers in several countries. Applicable law and competent bodies depend on the rules governing the relationship and its circumstances; page language alone does not decide the law. We impose no exclusive venue at the publisher’s domicile or general waiver of rights.

Consumers retain applicable mandatory protections and complaint routes. You may contact us without that prior step limiting access to competent authorities, bodies or courts.
