Ecology

Description and characteristics

The male specimen of Cryptothele sundaica was described from an individual collected on December 7, 1980, in Payakumbuh, West Sumatra. The palp features a thin and long embolus with a well-developed conductor, a configuration that resembles that of Cryptothele alluaudi and differs from the broad and flat embolus of C. verrucosa. The identification is provisional; comparison with reference material suggests that C. sundaica may not belong to the same genus as C. verrucosa, opening the possibility of a future taxonomic separation.
